Unfortunately, society does not always value worthy people. This is easy to verify by looking at world history and literature. People are afraid of innovations, therefore they hate and do not accept scientists, artists, ideologists of progressive movements. And therefore it cannot be said in any way that worthy representatives of the human race have always been judged as they deserve.
I will give an example from Griboedov’s play “Woe from Wit”. Chatsky taught the Famus society of justice, goodness and critical thinking. He wanted to change it for the better, exposing cronyism, blat, ignorance and serfdom of the old world. In response to his speeches, people only ridiculed his youth and inexperience, while continuing to protect their privileges of truth from his encroachments. For example, it is very significant how the hero fell upon Molchalin's depravity, accusing him of hypocrisy. Sophia was blinded by love and did not want to admit the facts, so she preferred to accuse her childhood friend of insanity. Everyone believed, as they already had a tooth on the talkative guest. So stupidly, society rejects worthy people who want to make it better.
In Kuprin’s story “Olesya,” the heroine becomes a victim of ignorant and rude peasants who blame the girl for witchcraft. She is insulted and beaten when she tries to go to church in order to approach her beloved culturally and religiously. Evil people do not accept a girl, because she is different from them: she knows medicine, can help a sick person, she is well-versed in the forest. But although she is smarter and more perfect, she nevertheless takes the first step towards her fellow villagers, and gets a stab in the back. Moreover, from those who impersonate the followers of Christ, who himself suffered suffering from unjust tormentors. As you can see, a smart and worthy girl did not find a place among the "virtuous Christians." They simply beat and drove her away.
Thus, society is not always able to discern a worthy and original personality in a person. It prefers to slander and expel him only on the grounds that he is different from most people. So the team sometimes can not assess the scale of the informal leader, from whom he turns away in an attempt to preserve everything, as it was before his arrival.
