We are all used to denouncing society for neglecting the particular problems of individual minorities. But few people think about what he himself is able to do for the team? What are not his rights, but his duties? It is from this that you need to start for those who want to attract general attention to themselves. I think that a person should by all means contribute to the development of society and invest in his enlightenment. I justify my point of view with examples from the literature.
Bazarov in Turgenev’s novel “Fathers and Sons” dreamed of changing society, bringing it closer to progressive ideas and scientific knowledge. He was annoyed by the old order, in which all the people were in the darkness of ignorance, and the nobles idly lived at his expense. Eugene even ignored the moral foundations of the past, because they justified inequality, stupidity and hypocrisy. The path to the goal of the hero lay through the denial of all values, even love. He believed that it would prevent his mind from working fully and bring closer the day when people become more perfect. Of course, Eugene professed unacceptable extremes in the rejection of all the values of the Kirsanovs' patriarchal world. However, his message itself - to promote progress - answers the question posed: this is what a real person and patriot of his country should do. We must become professionals in our field, able to move our country forward.
In Bykov’s story “Sotnikov,” the hero showed extraordinary courage, defending his homeland and doing what each of us is obliged to do for society. Enduring fear, pain and humiliation, he did not betray his comrades, did not enter into an alliance with the enemy. But initially he came to the partisan detachment as a weak and puny teacher, looking at him, no one would have thought that he was a soldier, and bold and strong. Despite his illness, he volunteered to go on a mission with the Fisherman to provide the squad with provisions. In all these modest deeds, one can see the lion courage of a person truly devoted to his country, who serves not himself, but society. Finally, when they were seized with a partner, Sotnikov covered both him and the village woman, who let them into the house, and his comrades who remained in the forest. He did not think about himself, accepting death with dignity. Each of us is obliged to protect society if necessary.
Thus, each of us must make society better by doing our own thing and defend its interests in difficult times. Only an active citizenship can make a person’s inner and outer world better.
