(287 words) The story of M. Sholokhov “The fate of man” refers to the work of military subjects. Despite the fact that the work does not have any large-scale military battle, it is saturated with heroism and a sense of true patriotism. By his example, the protagonist shows readers how to love and protect their homeland.
The writer introduces us to the ordinary driver Andrei Sokolov, who went through the whole war. Having learned about the advance of the enemy, the hero did not think for a minute - he immediately went to the front. Like many other Russian soldiers, the struggle against fascism was not easy for Andrei. The hero was wounded several times, and once the Nazis captured him. But the man never thought about betraying his homeland. Finding himself in a difficult situation, he continued to be a true patriot of his country. Sokolov also behaved bravely and courageously in the camp. Perhaps the key moment of his military life is an attempt at execution because of a denunciation. In this episode, the hero showed that he was not afraid to give his own life for the sake of a moral victory over the enemy. It is also worth mentioning the case of the commandant Muller, who tried with all his might to force Andrei to drink "for the victory of German weapons." But Sokolov refused to drink and eat, because his honor and dignity did not allow him to do this. Despite everything, this behavior delighted the occupiers. Even being face to face with death, the Russian soldier remained faithful and devoted to his homeland.
The real opposite of Andrei Sokolov is Kryzhnev. To save himself, he agreed to switch to the German side. This man surrendered under the yoke of the Nazis, while Sokolov became even more loving Fatherland.
Thanks to people like the main character, our country was able to cope with the enemy. The image of Andrei Sokolov is collective. He is a lot of other brave, courageous people who were ready to defend their homeland at all costs. On the example of his hero, Sholokhov shows us what a true patriot should be like. It is on Andrei Sokolov that we must be even!
