(322 words) The Great Patriotic War left an indelible mark on the history of the country and the hearts of people. This event affected literally every family, bringing suffering and death to the house. We would not have been able to win if people had not decisively rushed into battle, showing dedication and courage. And I would like to share the story of a man who for me has become a symbol of victory.
Maresyev Alexey Petrovich - the legendary Russian pilot, born in 1916 in the city of Kamyshin. Ever since childhood, he had dreamed about the sky, about how he would plow the airspace, and twice he sent his documents to the flight school and twice he was refused because of the malaria transferred in childhood, which spoiled his health. However, despite the setbacks and eternal refusals, Maresyev did not give up, as a result of which, having moved to Komsomolsk-on-Amur, he began to study at the flying club. In 1937, he was called up for service, where after a couple of years he caught an important event that changed the course of history. At the beginning of the war, the pilot demonstrates his exceptional abilities, having shot down four enemy aircraft in six months. But there were still many trials ahead of him.
At the beginning of 1942, fascist fighters killed Maresyev in an air battle, almost destroying his plane. He found himself alone in a forest in uncharted territory with wounded legs. There was practically no chance to survive, but the man did not give up. For eighteen weeks he fought for his life, eating berries, cones, bark of trees and stubbornly moving forward to the front line. In the end, the village boys found him and handed him over to the doctors. Maresyev’s condition was critical, doctors said that he wouldn’t get out, but Dr. Terebinsky took it, although the hero had to amputate his legs. But even then, the pilot did not give up. Having received prostheses, he worked day and night all day and subsequently achieved his return to the front as a military pilot. During the year, Alexei Maresyev shot down seven enemy fighters, courageously rushing into battle.
The story of this person is unique. This is an example of the highest willpower and noble masculinity. Thanks to such people, we won the war. The heroic path of this fighter is described in the work of Boris Polevoy “The Tale of a Real Man”.
